American Legion World Series

Volunteer

The success of a major undertaking like The American Legion World Series (ALWS) depends on strict attention to all the details. For the annual tournament in Shelby-Cleveland County, those responsible for everything from concessions to parking, from security to ticket sales, are volunteers, even the Executive Committee.

About 500 people gave their time and energy to the 2011 ALWS, the inaugural of the games in their new official home on Veterans Field at Keeter Stadium. Fans purchased more than 86,000 tickets, shattering the previous record. The volunteer corps swelled to approximately 600 in 2012 and their efforts resulted in another astounding tournament, with almost 102,000 tickets sold.
