New Orleans Post 125 won the 2012 American Legion World Series. Post 125 defeated Brooklawn, NJ Post 72 4-0. After a 2-1/2 hour rain delay the teams took the field around 11:00 pm on Tuesday, Aug. 21st. After selling a record-setting 86,162 tickets in 2011, Veterans Field at Keeter Stadium in Shelby, NC, broke that record with over 101,000 in ticket sales in 2012. ESPN3 covered the tournament for the second year allowing people around the world to watch the games live. The New Orleans team reached the finals by defeating the Nebraska team, while the New Jersey team defeated the Washington State team.
Great baseball, honors for fallen soldiers, and celebrations of the nation's veterans and enlisted men and women created a high-energy patriotic spirit for the entire series.
